Why Do Trading Cards Curl?

Trading cards are made of paper and are sensitive to fluctuations in humidity. When the air is too dry, cards can curl inward, while excess moisture can cause them to warp or swell. This is particularly problematic for rare cards and collectible cards, where maintaining the card’s original form is crucial for grading and resale value. Without the proper humidity control, your cards can suffer permanent damage, reducing their value and attractiveness in the marketplace.

How does Integra Boost® work to protect your trading cards?

Integra Boost® 2-Way Humidity Control Packs are designed to maintain an optimal level of moisture in your trading card storage. Unlike traditional silica gel packs, which only absorb moisture, Integra Boost® packs both absorb and release moisture, ensuring that your cards remain at the perfect 65% relative humidity (RH) level to prevent curling or warping. These packs are safe to use with all types of trading cards, including those made from premium materials like foil and holographic cards.

By adding Integra Boost® packs to your card storage box card storage case, or sealed in a jar, you can effortlessly decurl warped trading cards and keep them flat, ensuring they stay in near-mint or mint condition for years. Not only do they help restore cards, but they also actively protect your collection from future humidity-related issues.

Why Choose Integra Boost® over other humidity control options?

Many collectors try DIY methods like pressing cards under heavy books or using silica gel packs to control moisture, but these options can be less effective or even damaging in the long run. Integra Boost® is the best choice because it works both ways—it releases moisture when the environment is too dry and absorbs it when it’s too humid, making it the most reliable solution for preserving trading cards.

Don't risk the value and condition of your valuable trading cards! Protect them from humidity changes and prevent curling with Integra Boost® 2-Way Humidity Control Packs.

Does it work with my trading card sleeves?

Yes, using sleeves is highly recommended for protecting trading cards from physical damage such as scratches, smudges, and general wear. Sleeves create an extra barrier against dirt, oil, and minor impacts. For optimal protection, combine the use of sleeves with proper humidity control to protect against environmental damage like curling and warping. Integra Boost® is compatible with card sleeves that are not artight. A small amount of airflow is required for efficient moisture transfer to the paper stock of the cards in order to balance their humidity level and flatten them.

What is the formula behind Integra Boost® packs?

Integra Boost® 2-Way Humidity Control Packs use a patented formula that combinesglycerin and water. This balanced solution allows the packs to regulate humidity effectively by either absorbing excess moisture or releasing it into the environment when needed. The glycerin helps maintain a stable, controlled release, making the packs safe and reliable for delicate items like trading cards.

How does the glycerin and water formula help with humidity control?

The glycerin and water formula in Integra Boost® packs is designed to react to the surrounding environment. If the humidity drops too low, the formula releases moisture to bring the humidity back to the target level (e.g., 55% or 65% RH). Conversely, when the environment becomes too humid, the glycerin helps absorb excess moisture, keeping the humidity in balance.

Why is glycerin used in Integra Boost® instead of other ingredients?

Glycerin is used in Integra Boost® because it is a natural humectant, meaning it attracts moisture. This makes it highly effective at both absorbing and releasing moisture, depending on the surrounding humidity. The inclusion of glycerin ensures a smooth and controlled response to fluctuations in humidity, making it more efficient than single-function solutions like silica gel.

Is it safe for my trading cards and collectibles?

Yes, the glycerin and water formula used in Integra Boost® packs is completely non-toxic and safe for all types of collectibles, including trading cards, photographs, stamps, and other paper-based items. The formula works without introducing any harmful chemicals into your storage environment, ensuring that your valuable items are protected from humidity without being exposed to damaging substances. No chemicals are released from the packs - only pure water vapor.

How long do they last?

Integra Boost® packs typically last up to 6 months, depending on the environmental conditions they are used in. The glycerin and water formula provides consistent humidity control throughout this period. The packs also come with a humidity indicator card, which lets you know when it's time to replace them to ensure continued protection.

How fast does it work?

You should see results with 3-4 days depending on how warped the cards are. If the cards a re-exposed to non-ideal humidity conditions you will notice the cards curling again. We recommend storing your cards with Boost® at all times to maintain the ideal humidity. Card storage boxes are not airtight, so if you want to keep Boost® in your card storage box we recommend pacing the entire box inside a large plastic zip bag.
